I earned my Associates Degree at Prairie State College and finished my Bachelors in Psychology at Governors State University. My masters in Community Counseling came from Argosy University in Chicago in 2012. I enjoyed attending commuter universities, I was able to keep a full time job while pursuing my education.
Starting in 2012 I worked at an agency doing play therapy with children and families who had experienced trauma and were involved with child welfare, as well doing school based therapy with children and teens.
With the shut-down in 2020, I shifted to providing telehealth online with teens and adults. That work has included included helping people navigate dating, poly relationships, marriage, and raising children. It's where I started talking with working men. My tone shifted towards actionable items. The most common question asked of me was "Ok that theory sounds great, but what do I do?" I learned how to be specific.
Further, trauma work has continued to be important to me and frequently clients come for help healing from past pain. Pain from childhood or young adulthood is a common cause for our I sought out specialty training to earn the Certified Trauma Treatment Professional "CCPT" credential.
My early work taught me how important childhood experiences can be. How lessons taught to us in our early years can shape the way we think and behave as adults. I use that information now to identify problematic thoughts and patterns and offer specific new ways to think and act to help you heal and move closer to the type of person you want to be. My more recent work has taught me how to help teens and adults move forward. Sometimes by providing a warm and empathetic space, and sometimes with actionable steps to change thoughts and behaviors.
